Doctoral Student
Lijia is a PhD candidate in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department. She is also a member of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP).
Her research focuses on particle fate and transport in complex systems, including assessing the attachment efficiency for nano-sized carbon particles’ transport in soil; analyzing different aging conditions to the generation of micro- and nano plastics; characterizing alginate hydrogels as a carrier of microbiomes for in-situ bioremediation. Through the study, her work is seeking to design a safe, affordable, and easy to apply capsule for controlled nutrient release, in-situ bioremediation delivery, and contaminant removal.
