Gulsum Melike Ürper Bayram

Postdoctoral Associate

Dr. G. Melike Urper-Bayram is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Duke University. Her research centers on the link between environmental health and advanced materials, with a focus on plastic pollution, membrane technologies, and lifecycle assessment. She studies how emerging contaminants, such as organic and micro-nanoplastics, interact with natural and engineered systems, pioneering nanomaterial-enhanced hollow fiber membranes for selective removal of natural organic matter and toxins. Her work connects environmental engineering, materials science, and human health to create sustainable solutions for cleaner water and healthier ecosystems.
